Opens: 6pm, Thursday 24th November, 2011
Where: RHA Gallery, Ely Place, Dublin 2

A selection of work from Irish Craft Portfolio 2011 will showcase contemporary work by some of Ireland’s most internationally-recognised makers www.irishcraftportfolio.ie The exhibition will be officially opened by art critic Gemma Tipton on Thursday 24th November 24 at 6pm. The craftwork featured in this exhibition was chosen by an international selection panel. All are highly regarded and many are steadily achieving international success.

‘…..The whole gamut of craft is covered in the Portfolio.
And this is a rather healthy place for Irish craft to reside in. It is an
inquisitive place. Tradition is respected but not slavishly so. There is an
undercurrent of profound interest in organic forms. There is little radicalism (save
in the troubling intensity of the stitched drawings by Bernie Leahy) but not
yet an urgent political intent. That may change, of course for future Portfolio
entries, as Ireland tenses itself for radical protest and the funding of
culture may be scrutinised as never before….’
